Mankind loses our weapon-making advantage

It seems that Senegal’s chimpanzees have been making — and using — spears against smaller animals.

Look upon it as another failure of patent law. (-:

The implication is that if they’re doing it now, then it’s likely that older evidence for similar practices is real, which will muck up various people’s nice neat theories about how various animals developed, & how mankind’s weapon-making skills kept us ahead of the crowds.
