I had inadvertant confirmation today of my guess that 30-40t of silty rainwater would be a bad thing to swim through as it bounced and suddenly fell many tens of m down a Kimberley “slot gorge” after upstream rain; this judgement was handed down by a chap who has been “out bush” a lot and to that area in particular.
Oh, yes — lest we forget: we’re talking about one of the world’s lightning epicentre regions, too.
It was also strongly hinted by a Kalgoorlie resident at the same time that such a soggy and precipitous adventure would generally be poorly regarded and certainly short-lived there.
