After discovering that ADRs cost more to treat than the original medications, that they are the prime cause of malpractice suits, & the 4th most common cause of death, I ran across this David Gerrold statement:

Seriously, the most common cause of malpractice lawsuits is misdiagnosis not ADRs.
In order to successfully sue a doctor for an ADR you have to convince the court that (1) the doctor did not warn you about the possibility of the ADR and (2) if s/he had warned you, you would not have taken the drug.
