Here’s this afternoon’s weird science article, which has analysed the data rate of sight. Quotable quote:
With approximately 106 ganglion cells, the human retina would transmit data at roughly the rate of an Ethernet connection.
Despite lower bandwidth each, it turns out that the slower sight-cells actually send more data because there are many more of them.
So... next time someone refers to me as “wired”, they’re going do get the full serve. (-:
